Martin Bosley Racing Hosts Owners Hog Roast & Open Day

John and Lindsey had a super day out to John’s brother and sister in law, Martin and Sarah Bosley at Martin Bosley Racing to attend their annual Owners Hog Roast and Open Day at their racing yard at Bowstridge Farm, Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire this August.

They met lots of people from the world of racing from the 80 or so guests that attended in what was a large modern barn transformed into a restaurant with a racing theme, along with racing colours for decoration including the racing colours worn by Martin and John’s grandfather. A bar with complimentary drinks kept guests happy throughout the hot and sunny afternoon serving everything from prosecco, pimms, wines, beer, cocktails and soft drinks. A variety of delicious salads complimented the hog roast and copious dishes of home-made deserts with lashings of cream and assorted cheeses with biscuits and coffee followed. It was a feast – make no mistake! John and Lindsey enjoyed chatting to popular racing commentator Luke Harvey amongst many others. Guests were also invited to take tours of the yard to meet the horses and see the facilities at first hand.

Martin, a racehorse trainer of national hunt and flat horses and his wife Sarah, both grew up in the saddle from an early age and it’s clear to see they have racing in their blood. Martin and John’s father was Champion Amateur Jockey in the 1950’s and Sarah has had her own successful career as a jockey in her own right with many top wins under her belt. John won his first point-to-point at the tender age of 16 so between them all, it’s little wonder that Martin and Sarah went into training racehorses and John a specialist producer of quality horse haylage known as Yeoman Haylage which Martin and Sarah feed to their racehorses to help keep them fuelled for optimum performance.

A guest at the event, Patricia Brown, owner of a racehorse in training with Martin and Sarah, also owner of the legendary Loughnatousa WB, 17.1hh chestnut show-jumping superstar with double Hickstead Derby victories under his belt, chatted to John and Lindsey about her magnificent horse who is also fuelled by Yeoman Haylage no less!

The Chalfonts, a local syndicate of ladies with horses in training at Bowstridge Farm were chatting excitedly to guests about their latest acquisition bringing their own team of horses in training under Martin and Sarah’s expert care to three.

John and Lindsey had a brilliant day and loved meeting so many interesting people. Huge thanks to Martin and Sarah and your super team of jockeys and staff who made the day really special. Can they come again next year?
