Kitty Hosts A Lunch-Party For Her Owners, Sponsors and Staff

Diners at two long tables pose for a photo

Owners, Sponsors and Staff including special guest Richard Waygood, the recently appointed Performance Manager to the Senior British Eventing Team, got the red carpet treatment at a superb lunch hosted by Great Britain’s National, International and Olympic Eventer Kitty King on Saturday 4th February and John Bosley from Yeoman Haylage was delighted to be among the invited guests – one of the many benefits of being an Owner or Sponsor.

Always grateful for the support she receives, Kitty’s lunch-party at The Langley Tap near Chippenham followed by another invitation to tour her event yard and meet the horses was a way of thanking the 40 strong team of guests attending, celebrating the successes of 2016 and looking forward to an exciting 2017 eventing season with the next Olympics in Tokyo 2020 in her sights. During lunch, Kitty gave an update on the progress of the 20+ horses she trains including her recent Olympic ride, the magnificent Ceylor LAN owned by Diana Bown, Jacky Owen and Samantha Wilson.

Awarded an MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in 2009 having thirty six years of unique military and equestrian experience from being the Riding Master of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, the first military rider to complete Badminton in over twenty years and still competing in three day events, a former Chef d’Equipe to the British CIC 2 Star Eventing Team, former Chef d’Equipe for multi Olympic Medalist British Dressage Team at the London and Rio Olympics, Richard brings with him a wealth of skills and his new appointment to the Senior British Eventing Team will see him aiming at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Richard congratulated Kitty for her success in eventing and spoke about the importance of teamwork and trust which Kitty and her team clearly had and of adopting a flexible strategy necessary in a sport of a thousand variables.

One of the owners of Ceylor LAN, Diana, spoke passionately about how excited she, Jacky and Samantha were of being in Rio for the Olympics watching Kitty and Ceylor LAN competing over what they described was an extremely daunting and technically difficult cross-country course and how proud they were of the pair who took everything in their stride.

Kitty is always on the lookout for that next horse with Olympic or Badminton potential and is open to talking to anyone interested in being a part of her support team as an Owner or Sponsor as she heads into an exciting new year on the eventing circuit. If you like the sound of becoming a part of her prestigious support team, send an email to kitty@kittyking.co.uk

John and his team at Yeoman Haylage are delighted they’ve joined Kitty on her exciting journey and look forward to following her progress in 2017.
