Ten year old Blinding Lights (also known affectionately in the stable yard as ‘Ben’), owned and trained by Barry and Mary Sanderson from Calverleigh near Tiverton has had a great season winning two Point-to-Points and a Hunter Chase. He’s also had several placings.

Fed on Yeoman Haylage, Ben went on to win the prestigious Tiverton Foxhounds Point-to-Point Members’ Race in February, making Mary the all-time record holding winning racehorse trainer of the Members’ Race in the history of the Tiverton Foxhounds Point-to-Point, followed by another win at the Great Trethew Point-to-Point in Cornwall in April.  Ben then went on to run in two Hunter Chases at the Devon & Exeter Racecourse at Haldon with a win and third placing in April.

What a horse you might think!  He’s as impressive to look at as are his results on the racetrack. Mary would tell you he’s a delight to train with a temperament to match.  Ben is now out at grass having a well deserved rest before he comes back into training in the autumn.

“I have been using Yeoman Haylage for several years now for my show-jumpers, including the winner of the Hickstead Derby and they always thrive and look well on Yeoman haylage. Importantly the small haylage bales are easy to transport so the horses don’t have any change in their feed when away at shows.”
