End of an Era in Racing

Some of you may know that Martin Bosley Racing is John's brother and was John's first and biggest critic when John started to produce haylage. Martin and his wife Sarah both started out as jockeys which they continued doing for many years. They both hung their boots up and went on and trained racehorses, following in the footsteps of John & Martin's father. Martin and Sarah have continued the horse racing legacy in the Bosley family for more than 25 years.

It is with a great amount of sadness that we are sharing news of their retirement from racing. We are immensely proud of them for what they have achieved and we know full well they won't sit back and kick their feet up.

We'll be sad not to be delivering haylage to Bowstridge Farm, but more importantly, as a family it's the end of an era.

Martin and Sarah, we wish you so much happiness and we hope you might have a little more free time to come and see us in Devon

In January this year we had a hard decision to make; to continue training horses with no full-time staff or to stop training and find another career!

For the last 2 years we have struggled to find full time grooms/riders. Over the past 25 years we have had amazing staff who worked for us for many years. To replace these wonderful people has become harder each year.

We have made the decision to wind down our business of training racehorses. It is therefore with great sadness that we will have no more runners under rules and will be leaving Bowstridge Farm on 1st June 2022.

We have the most lovely loyal owners and would like to thank them very much for their patience and support over the years. We can't thank you enough. THANK YOU!

Our Landlord, John Carey and family have been so caring and supportive throughout our 13 years at Bowstridge, it saddens us to leave this beautiful farm. Huge thanks to the Carey Family for our amazing time.THANK YOU!

We would like to thank our staff over the years for their amazing hard work. Huge thanks to Lucy Vollaro for her tireless hard working support for over 13 years. THANK YOU!

We are a small stable but there are many organisations who have been very important to us who assist us weekly and monthly from veterinary, farrier, chiropractor, feed merchant, hay merchants, sponsors, bedding, transport, farmers, media/ IT assistance and part time grooms, so grateful, thank you to you all. Huge thanks to Vet Olwen Lloyd and farrier Ian Buck for their fantastic patience and assistance over many years. Huge thanks to Yeoman Haylage for their superb haylage and TopSpec for their quality feed and many years of sponsorship. THANK YOU!

We have great memories of nearly 300 winners between us and although no stakes winners, every winner has felt like a great win! Huge thanks to all those wonderful horses that have crossed our paths. THANK YOU!
