Twenty year old Georgina Curtis-Gartland from Exeter and her magnificent 16.3 -17hh 5 year old gelding Aldens Farm Lucky Gamble, otherwise known very fondly at home as Sqeaky, took part in the BE80 class at the recent British Eventing Horse Trials at Pontispool in Somerset over the Bank Holiday weekend, 26th to 28th May.
Georgina was delighted with their performance in the dressage, show-jumping and cross country phases and commented that she and Sqeaky would continue throughout the 2018 eventing season at BE80 level due to his young age. In 2019, the pair hope to qualify for ‘Grassroots’ and then see where his ability takes them.
Meeting when Squeaky was only a few days old, then 18 months later, Georgina was delighted when she found out that he was to be hers on Christmas Day in 2014.
Now at the young age of 5 and still growing, Sqeaky is a full 16.3/17hh and has competed at 5 BE Horse Trials to date and has also had much success at unaffiliated level. He has also now just moved up to Novice and Elementary level dressage and Georgina will undoubtedly feel proud that she’s bringing this young horse on so well.
Georgina says “This season would not have been possible without Yeoman Haylage. We lost nearly all our grass due to the constant rain and the ground being so wet. We were fighting to keep Squeaky’s weight up especially as he is still growing. Squeaky and all our other horses love the haylage from Yeoman Haylage, keeping the condition needed to start the season fit and strong.
